Terms for the Use of KBK Car Rental
GENERAL
- Included kilometers: 100.
- A weekend is understood as Friday 16:00 to Monday 08:00.
- All cars can be picked up from 07:30, but must be booked 3 hours before the desired pickup. Subject to availability.
- Outside of opening hours, rental cars can be picked up by agreement.
- If the desired car is not available, you will receive a similar car.
- Additional cost for delivery/pickup at Gardermoen.
PAYMENT
- Customers without a credit agreement must deposit at the time of car pickup. All deposits are made by reserving the rental amount plus a deposit (NOK 10,000) on the customer's credit card. The reserved amount remains on the customer's account but is not available to the customer. Due to automatic updates of tolls from Fjellinjen, the contract is not settled until 2-3 days after the return. After we have deducted the rental amount, any tolls, and fuel, the remaining deposit will be released. The released amount is normally available to the customer 1-3 business days after settlement. We prefer that payment is made by card; most cards are accepted.
CANCELLATION FEE
- All bookings are binding. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation fee of NOK 450.
EXCESS COVERAGE
- Our rental prices include insurance. All rentals have a deductible for damages.
DEDUCTIBLE REDUCTION
- You can reduce the deductible for an additional fee. Without deductible reduction, our deductible is NOK 10,000 for all car types. Deductible reduction must be arranged at the start of the rental.
PICKUP / DELIVERY
- By agreement.
TOLL ROADS / AUTOPASS
- Tolls are charged in arrears. Tolls are subject to VAT.
PARKING FEES
- If you incur a fee for illegal parking, you are responsible for paying the fee/fine immediately. NB! Failure to pay the parking fee will result in a claim against you personally.
OTHER
I. RENTER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
- During the rental period and until the vehicle is returned to the lessor, the renter bears all responsibility for the vehicle and its use as if they were the owner, including parking and traffic violations, etc. The renter is fully liable for any damage caused by and to the vehicle (ref. the lessor's Norwegian rental terms).
- In the event of a collision, damage during off-road driving, etc., the lessor or their insurance company may seek recourse from the renter if the renter has shown gross negligence or violated the obligations under these rental terms. The renter must immediately report any damage to the lessor or their representative. If this is not possible, the matter must be reported to the police. Otherwise, the renter risks being held responsible for the entire damage.
- Theft, fire, vandalism, personal injuries, and animal damage must always be reported to the police and the lessor.
- The renter's deductible is due immediately for payment (ref. applicable Norwegian rental terms).
- The renter will be charged a deductible for each damage incident.
II. EXCESS COVERAGE
- The renter's responsibility for the deductible and liability compensation under the previous section 4 is reduced if the renter takes out excess coverage at the start of the rental.
- The renter cannot claim such coverage if it is not noted on the rental contract.
- Excluded from excess coverage and the renter's deductible limitations are damages caused to the vehicle due to negligence, including the following:
- Damage caused to the car by loads that have shifted, are poorly secured, or improperly packaged.
- Burnt or cut holes, stains on seat covers, etc.
- Reversing without a spotter.
- Damage to tires caused by rim driving.
- Damage caused by snow sliding off roofs where signs have been posted.
- Impact damage to the body/undercarriage from using snow chains.
- Damage caused by driving in areas that are not physically suitable for the vehicle in height, width, or length.
- Damage resulting from driving off-road or in areas closed to regular traffic without the lessor's written consent.
III. RENTER'S DUTIES
- The renter is obligated to handle the vehicle responsibly and not:
- Use the vehicle for driving practice.
- Take the vehicle out of the country without the lessor's consent.
- Use the vehicle for illegal purposes.
- Let others drive the vehicle or allow it to be driven by someone not approved by the lessor before the rental started.
- Use the vehicle for racing, speed trials, or competition.
- Tow other vehicles.
- Transport more people than the vehicle is registered for.
- Drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication, or other substances.
- Leave the car unlocked.
- Load the car beyond its registered capacity. If the renter violates any of these duties, they are responsible for any economic consequences of the resulting damage, loss, and additional costs.
- If a collision occurs, damage from off-road driving, etc., or if a technical failure arises that prevents the renter from continuing with the vehicle, the renter must immediately inform the lessor of the incident. If technical problems can be fixed within a time reasonably related to the renter's needs and the rental period, the renter cannot terminate the rental. If the rental is terminated in such cases by the renter, they are responsible for the rental fee until the vehicle is returned to the lessor, with a deduction for the time the vehicle was out of order. If the rental is terminated, the renter is responsible for the costs incurred by the lessor to retrieve the vehicle. If the repair cannot be completed within the mentioned period, the lessor will decide whether to provide a replacement vehicle for the customer to continue the rental or whether the rental will be considered terminated from the time the lessor was informed by the renter.
The lessor will then arrange for the vehicle to be transported back at their expense, and the lessor is not responsible for any loss or liability incurred by the renter. - The renter must ensure the vehicle is lubricated and change the oil according to the lessor's instructions or when necessary. Oil expenses will be reimbursed by the lessor to the renter with a receipt from a gas station/service workshop showing the vehicle's registration number and odometer reading. Engine oil, coolant, and tire pressure should be checked at each refueling.
IV. RENTER'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
- The renter's financial responsibility is specified in the lessor's current NORWEGIAN RENTAL TERMS and price lists, which the renter accepts as part of this rental contract by signing it.
V. LIABILITY WAIVER
- The lessor disclaims any responsibility towards the renter for loss of time, money, or other inconveniences related to the rental.
- The lessor's responsibility for forgotten items, etc.: The lessor accepts no responsibility for damage to or loss of property left in, stored in, or transported in the vehicle during the rental period or after it is returned to the lessor. The renter releases the lessor from any claims due to such losses or damages.
Important.
- Unpaid or late fines/fees will incur an additional 100% fee. We urge you to pay fines/fees immediately.
- In connection with your rental, we have reserved an amount on your card equivalent to the rental amount plus a deposit. Reserving such an amount is a prerequisite for renting a car from us if you do not have a corporate or invoice agreement. This amount is NOT deducted from your account but reserved on your card/account until the vehicle is returned and the rental is settled. The reservation serves as a guarantee for the amount you will owe at the end of the rental.
VI. RENTAL CONTRACT
- By accepting the rental terms and conditions and submitting the rental booking, this is considered a rental contract between the customer and the supplier. The booking is binding, and KBK has the right to charge the customer the entire or part of the booking amount upon cancellation, including any invoice fees and/or costs.
